Kealia Trail

2.6 miles   1100ft elevation   Out & Back Trail
AllTrails lists it as Hard

This was a nice hike with some good views along the way, as most of the trail is out in the open and faces the ocean. It's located high above Kaneohe Bay on ten beautiful acres of trees, flowers, birds and solitude. Not a lot of cover from the sun until the very end, but there is a tree or two in spots along the way that you can get out of the sun and feel the ocean air breeze to cool you off a little. It is mostly a steady incline all the way with 18 switchbacks to ease the upward trek.

The trailhead is across from the small plane airport. You can park in the lot with no problem.  The sign even tells you so.

Walk across the street down this road to get to the start of the trail.

Walk up this path and you will find the start of the trail.

Follow the trail and you will come across your first switchback to the left.

Follow the trail and you will come across your second switchback to the left.

Not long after you will come across your third switchback to the right.

Starting to open up for some nice view

Not long after you will come across your fourth switchback to the left.

A little ways you will come across your fifth switchback to the right.

Getting very open now with nothing in the way of the beautiful view.

Following that view you will come across your sixth switchback to the left

A little further on you will hit the seventh switchback to the right.

Another nice spot for picture

Up a little further, switchback nine to the right, followed soon after by.......

... switchback ten to the left.

Following is another nice spot to take some pics.

You will come up to switchback eleven to the right.

A little walking and you will hit switchback twelve to the left.

A nice view of the airport below.

After the view, switchback thirteen to the right.

And then switchback fourteen to the left.

Yup.  Another turn.  Switchback fifteen to the right.

A little more walking and you will hit switchback sixteen to the left.

Last two turns coming up. This is switchback seventeen.

And finally switchback eighteen to the left.

A little further and you will come across this table which marks the official end of the trail.

If you go a little further and take a right, you can follow the road to another site of interest.

A five or ten minute walk and you will come across this 30 foot water tower which has artwork all over it.

Take a water break, catch your breath and head back the way you came.

Took a couple more shots on the way down.  It was a warm but beautiful day
